Energy Performance & Sustainability

What makes Helvetica truly distinctive is its ability to combine the renovation of existing buildings with high energy performance standards.
By integrating brick, concrete, and steel, the project embraces a circular and sustainable approach. The methods used for renovating the existing structures and constructing the new buildings aim to make the site nearly energy self-sufficient, enabling residents to achieve significant energy savings. The façades are fully renovated and insulated, and the project incorporates solar panels, heat pumps, and the latest technological innovations in energy efficiency.

    Circular Economy
    Only those parts of the buildings that allow for an improvement in quality of life—both within the project and at neighborhood level—are demolished. A maximum number of elements from the original building are recycled by a specialized company.

    Heating & Domestic Hot Water
    Heat production will be provided by a collective air-to-water monobloc heat pump. This system will supply both space heating and domestic hot water. Underfloor heating is installed throughout.

    Electricity
    Each apartment is equipped with its own meter installed by the distribution network operator in the electrical room. A shared meter will serve the common areas. Lighting fixtures will be energy-efficient.

    Wastewater
    Wastewater will be managed through a separate system (rainwater and wastewater via distinct networks). Wastewater will be discharged directly into the public sewer system. A lifting pump will be installed to raise water from the basement level.

    Water Management
    The project includes the installation of two stormwater retention basins with infiltration at the rear of the building. Both infiltration systems will be equipped with rainwater collection tanks to supply part of the building.
